The Bible: the miniseries

A miniseries called The Bible, which was about the book of the same name, appeared on the History Channel and had a significant impact on my Twitter stream. Did you watch it? What did you think of it?

The Hollywood Reporter rounded up critical reaction, which was exceedingly critical. Allison Keene, the Reporter’s own television critic wrote:

The Bible is fractious and overwrought. Others are sure to pick apart the deviations from the sacred text, but that’s just the beginning of the miniseries’ issues. In the end, this is the most well-known and popular book in the history of humanity for a reason — it’s exciting and interesting and full of hope. The Bible is unfortunately none of these.

Did she get it right?

And finally, the Rev. Laurie Brock, who tweeted energetically about the miniseries took to her blog to explain why she loves the book and, indirectly, why she wasn’t crazy about the miniseries.
