The Rev. Susan Russell has a powerful blogpost in The Huffington Post on the easily overlooked pastoral dimension of the past days of debate. Here’s a glimpse:
“The pastoral impact of the ongoing indignity of having our deepest, holiest, most precious loves and relationships debated and dissected in the public arena as if it was OK, as if it wasn’t dehumanizing and as if it’s not profoundly personal.”
To me, this observation holds true, as so many of my LGBT friends are simultaneously overwhelmed by the gracious support of allies, and yet inflicted once again with the searing pain of feeling “less than”.
And Susan is right: “And if all things are not yet well then it’s not the end. Yet.”
