Group of bishops in Australia supporting marriage equality bill

There is a bill before the Australian House right now, proposing marriage equality. It has passed the Senate already, but must pass the House unchanged in order to be signed into law. A group of Anglican bishops, led by John Parkes, the Bishop of Wangaratta, has voiced its support for the bill, urging the House to pass it.

The Loss of “Common” Prayer  

In its proposed report to General Convention, the SCLM has suggested four approaches to revising the Prayer Book, each of which has some merits and disadvantages. But they all include the assumption that we should continue to have a Book of Common Prayer. I would like to raise a question before the question: what is common prayer, and is a Book of Common Prayer right for our future, or should something else be our “unifying myth”?

West Virginia parish offers a little Christmas joy

A generous response to tragedy one hundred year ago continues to be felt today.  A century ago, St Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Wheeling, WV received a bequest from the Scott family grieving over the loss of their daughter with one stipulation; it must be used for children at Christmas.
