Last week, the Anglican Consultative Council received updates on plans for a global safeguarding initiative. Admitting that this will be complicated by differences across churches, the ACC sees it as a priority “to enhance the safety of all persons, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults, within the Provinces of the Anglican Communion.”

St. Paul’s School, in Concord, NH, is facing the threat of criminal proceedings over allegations that it failed to protect students from sexual abuse and agreed Thursday to put the New Hampshire attorney general’s office in control of handling reports of possible child abuse on campus.

I suspect that there might be as many answers to the question as there are Christians. Even the big answers upon which most of us agree—things like Son of God, Savior, Messiah, Redeemer, Lord—mean different things to different people at different times.
