Choosing between the Scottish Episcopal Church, the ACNA, and marriage equality in Edinburgh

Last year, the Scottish Episcopal Church voted to remove language from its canons that restricted marriage to a man and a woman. Individual clergy retain the right to decide for themselves whether or not to officiate at same-sex marriages.

Even given that provision, at least one congregation in Edinburgh is leaving the SEC rather than continue in congress with those offering marriage equality.

Putting GC79 into practice

Serving on an interim body is a way for Episcopalians across the church to participate in its governance. While the joint Standing “Committees are only open to bishops and deputies to the 79th General Convention, all other interim bodies are open to all members of the Episcopal Church. Appointments to standing commissions are generally for six years while appointments to joint standing committees or task forces are generally for three years.”
