According to a media release from the Episcopal Church’s Office of Public Affairs, there are several pending changes amongst the bishops of the Church. Between now and the end of the year, the Church will witness the installation of the 27th Presiding Bishop, the consecrations of two bishops, the election of one bishop, and the consent processes underway for two bishops-elect will draw to a close.
Presiding Bishop
The Holy Eucharist with the Installation of the 27th Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, Bishop Michael Bruce Curry, will occur on Sunday, November 1 at noon Eastern at Washington National Cathedral.
Consecrations
Two consecrations of bishops are planned:
September 12: Diocese of Central Pennsylvania: The Rev. Canon Audrey Scanlan, elected March 14
November 14: Diocese of Dallas: The Rev. George Sumner, elected May 16 (pending successful completion of the consent process).
Elections
one election for a bishop is scheduled:
October 17: Diocese of Eastern Oregon
Canonical Consent Process
Currently there are two canonical consent processes underway:
October 10: The Rev. George Sumner, elected Bishop of Dallas on May 16
December 19: The Rev. Moisés Quezada Mota, elected Bishop Coadjutor of Dominican Republic on July 25
