The Revd Br Tobias Stanislas Haller, BSG is a treasure to the Episcopal Church and to LGBTQ Christians. He is an author, a theologian, a monastic, a poet, an actor, a musician, an iconographer and someone whom I have grown to respect who has the ability to explain something succinctly and with profound intellect. I have loved so many of the icons that he has written. I’m sure that it is a rest well deserved when he took retirement last year, but I’m also as sure that he is deeply missed by the Diocese of New York and his parish, St James Episcopal, Fordham in the Bronx.
In 2015 he created a meditation video Meditationes Viam Crucis (Meditations on the Way of the Cross). The video is a set of Stations of the Cross that Tobias created for his parish in 2014. The music for meditating is a Symphonic poem that Tobias wrote in 1982. The music is based on traditional music of the Passion and ends with a chorale that “looks beyond the Way of the Cross towards Easter.”
