The Archbishop of Canterbury has appointed Archbishop Bernard Ntahoturi to be his representative to the Holy See and the new director of the Anglican Center in Rome.

Over the last few weeks, there has been a lot of literal and virtual ink dedicated to the announcement of the nomination of the Rt Revd Phillip North to be the bishop ordinary of the Diocese of Sheffield in the Church of England. The conversation began with an article by senior theologian Martyn Percy, Dean of Christ Church, Oxford. He pointed out North’s membership in a Church of England subgroup, the Society, which issues cards to its members allowing the male priests to show/prove that they have been ordained by a male bishop.
The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals had ruled in favor of Gavin Grimm, the 17-year-old female-to-male transgender teen who took on his local school district when they refused to allow him to use the boys’ restrooms and locker facilities at his high school. The 4th Circuit ruled in Gavin’s favor based on the Title IX guidelines issued by the Obama Administration. Monday, the US Supreme Court has vacated the earlier decision in GG vs Gloucester County School District and returned the case to the 4th Circuit Court for reconsideration.

In the case of GG vs Glouchester County School Board, the landmark trans student case currently before the US Supreme Court, counsel for the National Organization for Marriage, the Liberty Counsel and the Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence received brief letters from Scott S. In a letter that was distributed to the priests of his cure, Cardinal Blase Cupich, the Archbishop of Chicago stated his desire to stand in solidarity with parishioners throughout the archdiocese who are living in fear of the immigration actions of the Trump Administration.

Many main stream denomination congregations are losing members as the result of many contributing factors. Congregations close weekly and there is no further witness from that congregation felt in the community. But some congregations have sought ways to extend the life of a congregation and its effects on and contributions to its community. Sometimes nearby congregations from the same denomination choose to merge and sometimes congregations of different denominations merge.
