Trinity Church, Wall Street, New York, and the neighboring St Paul’s Chapel have installed metal detectors to screen visitors to the historic sites. CNN reports:

Seventeen may choose its own significance.

The bishops received reports on the issues of sexual harassment and abuse, and of gun violence. Duncan-Probe said both are matters of evangelism, as the church considers what Jesus and the gospel have to say within and around us that demand a response from the Episcopal church.

Protesters prevented some attendees from reaching Spencer’s event, and police made several arrests, but a broad coalition of civic and religious organizations had a different kind of counter-protest in mind.
