Bishop Coburn has died

Bishop John B. Coburn, retired Bishop of the Diocese of Massechusetts and former President of the House of Deputies died on Saturday, August 8.

According to an online report:

The Right. Rev. John B. Coburn age 94 of Bedford formerly of Boston passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Barnum) Coburn. He is survived by his children Thomas C. Coburn of Warren, RI, Judith Coburn Klein of Truro, Michael C. Coburn of Providence, RI, Sarah Coburn Borgeson of Sherborn, and the late Cynthia Anne Coburn. Also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Helen Cynthia Coburn and Eugenia Coburn Larsen.

According to an email report:

The funeral is scheduled for St. Ann’s, Lincoln, Massachusetts, Friday at 3pm. He was the quintessential leader of the HOD especially during the 1976 General Convention and the debates over a new Prayer Book and women’s ordination.
