Bishops United Against Gun Violence to host Facebook Live Friday prayers

Following the popular engagement with their pop-up prayers during General Convention 2018, the Bishops United Against Gun Violence are planning to hold prayer events on Facebook Live on Fridays from Epiphany through Easter 2019.

A spokesperson said via email,

Bishops United Against Gun Violence hosted daily “pop-up” prayer services at General Convention that received a great deal of support both from people in Austin and those who watched on Facebook Live. The Episcopalians Against Gun Violence Facebook page had a total of just under 13,500 views for the eight Facebook Live videos, which is an average of 1,675 views per prayer service.

In order to continue this momentum and stay connected to our online community in between larger, public witness events, Bishops United bishops are taking turns hosting five-minute Facebook Live services to pray against gun violence. These prayer services are scheduled to run on Fridays from Epiphany through Easter 2019 at times to be announced in advance of each service.

The prayer services can be found at the Episcopalians Against Gun Violence page on Facebook. The lineup for January has been announced as Bishop Ian Douglas (Connecticut) January 11; Bishop Douglas Fisher (Western Massachusetts) January 18; Bishop Gretchen Rehberg (Spokane) January 25. Times will be announced on the Facebook page ahead of each Friday’s service.
