Whether it’s the wholeness of our communities or the wholeness of our lives, these stories are hopeful… if somewhat wild… reminders that the whole matters more than the parts.

I don’t know of Mother Teresa ever really planned on becoming a saint. I kind of doubt it. Does anybody really set out with the intention of becoming a recognized Saint throughout the church?
Meetings, discussions, and debates take much longer to work than we are sometimes led to believe–even by the Scriptures.

Knowing to whom we belong, we open ourselves to who we are meant to be. And then we open ourselves to astounding miracle and to mind boggling transformation, at our deaths and in every single day of our lives.
How does today measure up against your youth, or against the future you’ve imagined? Today’s first reading asks us to live in this day with honesty, no matter how it compares to our memories or dreams.

In Jesus’ explanation, God is the one who loves and cares for the lost, constantly searching them out, and making them the priority in the kingdom of heaven.
Which comes first: Do we believe that Jesus is “the Messiah” (the newly-anointed king)? Or must we first sense our belonging in the kingdom that Jesus proclaims? Our answer may shape how we share the good news.
