Episcopal Cafe 2012: First quarter highlights

January: The voluminous number of comments generated by Derek Olsen’s piece on the Non-negotiables. Derek said the Book of Common Prayer was non-negotiable. Commenter Josh Magda said the prayer book was “the first thing” that needed to be negotiated. The two pieces garnered 153 comments between them.


February: The Rev. George Clifford has a gift for identifying delicate subjects and taking a strong stand. His essay “Encourage people to read the Scriptures: Maybe not” was the most read entry on the site in February.

March: The Diocese of Eastern Oregon passed a resolution asking the General Convention to endorse giving Communion to the unbaptized, and though it never had much chance of passing, it generated an intense conversation about the nature and importance of the sacraments.
