Roman Catholic churches in Boston are urging their parishioners to stay home from mass if they are sick and they are exempt from the requirement to attend mass until they are better.
Church To Sick Parishioners: Skip Mass
From the Boston Globe
BOSTON — The Catholic Church is urging sick parishioners to not attend Mass, as the church takes new steps to protect against the spread of the H1N1 flu.
“Given the extraordinary precautions being taken across the nation to prevent the spread of the H1N1 influenza, the archdiocese has instituted a series of steps to be followed for the time being during the celebration of the Mass,” Rev. Jonathan Gaspar, co-director of the Office of Worship and Spiritual Life, said.
Parishioners who are sick are not bound by the Sunday Mass obligation and are urged not to attend Mass and to only return when they are feeling better.
