Singing ‘Hallelujah’ in the mall: unlikely, yet sensible

Witnessing flash mobs has become a bit of a thing lately, hasn’t it? Nonparticipants smile, nod, take photographs or video with their phones. Often they sport looks of stupefaction. They stop and watch because they feel they must, whatever the quality of talent on display.


It’s nice, then, to see video of genuinely enjoyable music linked to this time of year through George Frideric Handel and his read of the prophets. Not content to be stabled in a church, the good news has spread itself to indisputable houses of cultural worship – malls and big department stores.

First up, the Holy of Holies: the food court at the Welland Seaway Mall on Saturday, November 13, at lunchtime.
