Sunday Social Hour

One thing we have been able to figure out about Facebook’s recent quirkiness: it’s not “spamming” you when we invariably pipe in 5-6 new items at a time. We know this because whenever the feed updates, we get plenty of comments on the one or two items that DO get posted to your walls, but none of the rest. So just consider the wall update you do see to be a nudge to check the site for new posts, or the Facebook page for new notes.

From the Faith of Presidents post, we had several comments saying that the religion of the president shouldn’t matter, with a couple of people even implying that even the Flying Spaghetti Monster would be just fine thank you. But more troubling was the point raised by John Andrews: that “If Obama joined the Episcopal Church, his detractors would attack him for not joining a non-denominational church. It doesn’t matter what church he would join, he would still be attacked–[as if] he’s just going to church to hide the fact that he’s a Muslim.” On the lighter side, Jack McKee reminded us that a quarter of U.S. Presidents were Episcopalian.

What does Glenn Beck have against Christ the liberator was shared more than 75 times on Facebook, and the firestorm of comments that came after actually had us revisiting our comment policy. Should we do something like what the Episcopal Church recently did on Facebook, and create a guidelines tab? We have mentioned our guidelines in the past but perhaps a persistent link specific to Facebook would be helpful.
