The Living Church has published an article on line that quotes the Revd Cindy Voorhees, former vicar of the Dio Los Angeles mission St Gregory the Great in Newport Beach CA saying that the Rt Revd J Jon Bruno offered them $1 million to drop the charges against him. Diocesan Canon for Communications, Bob Williams, says that Bishop Bruno was again making the same offer he made a number of months ago. Mr Williams says that it was not offered in return for the former congregants dropping their presentment.

[Though the bishop was] not to make contact with the complainants during your initial investigation… Bishop Bruno through his attorney continued his aggressive efforts to take the deposition of the spouse of the St James vicar and threatened sanctions for delay of that deposition

Bishop Matthews wrote to representatives of the St. James congregation. “I have determined that if the allegations presented are true, canonical violations may have occurred.”
It would be natural to assume that, at almost 90 years old, the Rev. Malcolm Boyd has run out of steam. Yet here he is, still running. Running to fire up demonstrators demanding economic and social justice. Running to put together his latest column for national distribution. Running to deliver a major sermon at a packed church near downtown Los Angeles.
