the Magazine – what is it?

Welcome to the first post of our newest Episcopal Café section, the Magazine.  Our hope for this new effort is to invite many voices to tell the story, the lived experience, of the Episcopal Church.  We’ll be doing this through videos, essays, art, interviews, narratives, essays and whatever else we might come up with to share the church’s story.

Each month we’ll select a different theme to build our features around.  Our editorial team will be developing features, but we’re also inviting your submissions as well.  For this month, we’ll be looking at ‘Perceptions of the Church,’ and in the future the current theme will be announced on our  Speak Up! page.  You can send along your submission to magazine@episcopal.cafe.  We’re looking for original content as much as possible, but will consider previously published items; please let us know where it was originally used in your submission.

Ours is a large and diverse church, spread across all of the United States and into several other nations around the world.  We want to hear stories from all over about what this church means to you; how it has shaped your life, your enthusiasms, your disappointments, your relation with and understanding of God.  We’re the curators, but you are the storytellers; yours’ is the story of God’s people in this time – and we want it to be told to the world in all its messy beauty.
