Two Christian communities struck by tragedy in last 24 hours

In Cairo, Egypt, dozens of others were injured and at least 25 killed in an explosion at St Peter’s church during a Sunday morning worship.  St Peter’s church is adjacent to St Mark’s Coptic cathedral, within the same complex.

A recently formed militant group called Hasm said it carried out the attack.

In Uyo, Nigeria the roof collapsed of a newly completed church building during the ordination service of a new bishop killing as many as sixty.  Those inside the Reigners Bible Church included Akwa Ibom state governor Udom Emmanuel, who survived the disaster.

The church was still under construction and workers had rushed to complete it for the ordination.  Officials have promised an investigation determine if shoddy construction practices contributed to the collapse.
