The eight theologians formed two affinity groups consisting of four theologians each and have prepared two main papers. One adheres to what it understands to be the church’s traditional ethical and sacramental teaching about marriage. The other revisits this teaching in order to call for the church’s recognition of faithful, monogamous same-gender relationships.

Bishops elect new bishops

During the meeting of the House of Bishops at Camp Allen, Texas two new bishops were elected. The Rev. Canon David Bailey of Utah was elected as bishop of the Navajoland Area Mission. The Rev. Dr. James ‘Jay’ Magness was elected bishop suffragan for federal ministries. Both elections are subject to the usual consent process.

Vatican accepts Irish bishop’s resignation
